About

Hello. I'm Jeffrey.

I've been writing software for a while and essays for a little less. I live in Argentina, work with computers, and this blog is where I take my time thinking through the things I think about too quickly and badly during the day.

The subjects always circle back to the same things, however long it takes me to admit it: attention, the craft of building things, and what we do with technology now that technology does so much with us. I'm not an internet pessimist — I make my living in here, and it still strikes me as a strange little miracle — but I've become selective about which parts of it I let into my head.

A few things about me that explain quite a bit of the rest:

  • I grind my coffee by hand even though I have a machine that would do it better.
  • I support Rosario Central. I didn't choose it, and I wouldn't change it: it's inherited patience with, every so often, a diving header.
  • Most afternoons I watch Paren la Mano. Laughing together, even from a distance, is a form of community too.
  • I have seventeen project folders and two finished projects.
  • I read on paper, listen to whole albums, and write these pages in text files that live in a repository, like everything else I care about.

This site has no analytics that shape decisions, doesn't collect your data, and won't interrupt you with anything. If something here stays with you, the best thing you can do is write to me — slow conversations are my favorite part of having a website — or simply come back now and then. The lights stay on.

Thanks for stopping by.
